Don Wells

Don Wells is a very active "Snowbird". He is Vice President of SALT, has served on the board of the Pinal County Trail Association, was crew chief for the Lost Goldmine Trail, laid out the trails for Silly Mountain Park and heads up the Trail Crew to build and do maintenance on the trails.

Jean Groen

Jean Groen is a Master Gardner, helps to teach classes at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, and wrote a desert plant cookbook.

Together they have written five books about the plants of the desert. Don writes about the plants appearance, where it can be found, ways the Indians used it for and medicinal uses.

Jean write about nutritional information, how to prepare it, (if edible) and researches old recipes and writes new ones.

They teach hiking classes while imparting the love they have for the desert.
